A new chapter for CamSocLon -fFor many years, we hosted the University’s London Freshers event, welcoming around 300-400 students each year before they went up to Cambridge. The University has now changed the format, with regional societies instead welcoming recent graduates into their local alumni communities. We’re looking forward to making the new Welcome Social format our own – and hoping for a suitably good CamSocLon turnout as we welcome the next generation of Cambridge graduates to London.
Join us from 6.30pm. Whether you have moved to London for the first time or returned to the city you already know, joining us for the evening will prove one of the easiest ways to stay connected to Cambridge while building a new social and professional network. At the evening you can expect to:
- meet other recent graduates and alumni living and working in London;
- expand your social and professional network;
- hear about the experiences of alumni who have made the move from Cambridge to London;
- find out more about CamSocLon and the events and activities you can get involved with.
And if you are coming along on your own, you definitely won’t be the only one. These events are deliberately informal and designed to be welcoming, whether you arrive knowing nobody or already have half your college year in your phone. Although the event is aimed at new graduates arriving in or returning to London, this isn’t just an event for newcomers. In fact, to make it the evening successful, we would love existing CamSocLon members to come along too – particularly those who can remember what it was like to make the transition from Cambridge to London! So come and share your experiences, offer whatever wisdom you’ve acquired along the way, and help us give the newest members of the Cambridge community a proper London welcome.
In case you needed any more incentive to come, the first 100 guests to arrive will receive a complimentary glass of wine or a soft drink!
The Venue
Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross, 6 Pancras Square, N1C 4AG conveniently placed just a few minutes from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations. We’ll have our own space in the basement, which will give us plenty of room to settle in, have a drink and get talking without having to compete with the rest of King’s Cross for a table. It’s a good central spot, easy to get to from pretty much anywhere in London – which seems appropriate for a gathering of Cambridge graduates now scattered across the capital.
