On the 30th floor of Clifford Chance in Canary Wharf over two dozen of us met for half an hour of drinks and nibbles; then a relaxed and humorous plenary session where each of us explained in 60 seconds what type of people we were and why we were networking that evening; and then another hour and a half with drinks and canapés for really focused talking with those whose interests aligned with our own. The venue was splendid, the views over the Dome, the Wharf, the skyscrapers and the yachts was magnificent, and the hospitality of Clifford Chance extremely generous. We were truly privileged and it was a most successful evening, the only disappointment being the more-than-a-dozen others who had reserved places and who had had to withdraw that morning or else simply did not show up, all too late for us to offer places to those on the waiting list. We all discussed the difficulty, and our Committee will decide on the best way forward should we do this type of evening again – which those attending very much hope we will.
