This year about 180 eager, excited, apprehensive teenagers from London schools came together for the Society’s Freshers’ Evening in central London and settled in for a couple of hours of friendship-making, networking, fact-finding, experience-sharing and so on, armed with a glass or two of their choice and all helped by the University’s Alumni Relations staff and an excellent tribe of current students who had volunteered to come along to help the soon-to-be-freshers with advice on all things Cambridge. Quietened at one point only by a short address from the Society Chairman, the gathering enjoyed a most informative and motivating evening, with excellent feedback.
