We’re inviting ‘expressions of interest’ from members who might like to take over from me as Chair of the Society.
It’s entirely my own decision to relinquish the position, and it’s very amicable. I joined the Society Committee almost 20 years ago and have taken on a number of responsibilities including, for some years now, that of Chairman. Managing our Society activities has always been enjoyable and stimulating but I know it’s never been as good as now, thanks to an excellent team of friends on our Committee, a record number of fascinating events (and still expanding) and your great support. To hand over sometime this year, on a high, seems right to me: I’m in my early 70s (young these days of course!) but I feel that I’ve done enough at this level and would like to see someone move the Society to the next stage.
We’ve decided that a small subcommittee will take a first look at anyone who does show interest, so if you are of that mind please send a short CV/résumé to our Secretary Tim together with some sentences saying why you’re interested and what skills and experience you think you can bring to managing a busy, hands-on, volunteer-run alumni group currently providing over two dozen events each year. Tim will pass that on to the subcommittee and then all being well they will discuss things with you in more detail. And we’d like to receive any input in the next four weeks, by end of Sunday 3 March, 2019.
Thank you and best wishes – and do keep checking our website for events and bookings!
