This evening we took our first steps into the world of blind tasting with a single blind flight of five whites and four reds.  Single blind is where you know what the wines are, but not the order of tasting, but since some of our members had not actually read this, they were effectively tasting with no knowledge aka double blind.  That said, this session was more about learning what to look for in identifying a wine, so the styles chosen were well known and included such exam bankers as New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Alsace Gewürztraminer.  Top wine of the night with votes from all but one was Pegasus Bay Prima Donna Pinot Noir 2019, with Hugel’s Grosse Laue Gewürztraminer 2011and Ch Feytit-Clinet Pomerol 2006 sharing the podium.  Next time, my friends, will be more challenging!
