The March walk for the Cambridge Society saw members in Soho, Mayfair and St James’s in pursuit of the haunts of myriad rock and pop stars. From private members’ clubs to recording studios, watering holes to gig venues, the vinyl triangle and the occasional album cover location, we walked in the footsteps of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and the Gallagher brothers among others. It transpired that one of our number had played at the legendary Marquee Club in its heyday; surely it’s an oversight that the blue plaque where the club used to be commemorates The Who’s drummer, Keith Moon, rather than our group member!
