The Clubs of Pall Mall and St James’s are some of the glories of London, though open only to Club members and their guests.  The Oxford and Cambridge Club is no exception, and so we are particularly pleased that at the end of our year we can again invite our Society members to a special evening hosted by Club and Society member, Andrew Shailer-Smith.  For the evening of Monday 2nd December, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, we have the magnificent chandeliered Smoking Room (and no, you can’t!) and the format is, well, just meet, drink, chat, and end the year on a really happy note.  What the Club elegantly terms “Gourmet Nibbles” will be yours, together with a voucher for the first drink of your choice (wine, beer, soft) followed by a cash bar.  We have found from previous events that this is the best way to keep our ticket prices manageable for all, especially during these turbulent times, while allowing each of us to imbibe what and how much we need.  We will be celebrating, meeting and making friends, and generally moving in a jolly way towards the end of the year with Society members of all ages and backgrounds who have two (at least) things in common: London living or working, and Cambridge University.  What better way to bring people together!

Dress Code and Standards: The Club, like the others in St James’s, maintains the standards that its members approve, and so our host and Chairman will have their wrists slapped if the Club has to turn away gents without jacket and tie, or anyone in jeans, flip flops (in December?!) or similar garb. Ladies should dress with “commensurate formality”.  Bags and luggage must be left at Reception, phones turned off or set to ‘silent’, and no photography is allowed anywhere in the Clubhouse other than in the Smoking Room.  In this way the Clubs retain their unique charm, and this is something to be experienced.  If you haven’t been there before, join us for this very special evening! And if you have, come and enjoy it all again!

Cambridge Society of London Transfer and Refund Policy

i) At least 14 calendar days before the event: We will provide full refunds (minus the booking/transactions fees, which are nonrefundable). Alternatively, if you have found a suitable replacement, we can change the name on the ticket on the understanding that you will reclaim the ticket price from them separately.

ii) Between 4 and 14 calendar days before the event: Our arrangements with our hosts are always finalised 4 calendar days before each event. With more than 4 calendar days’ notice we can still change the name to someone named by you on the understanding that you will reclaim the ticket price from them separately. Alternatively, we MIGHT be able to sell it to someone else; there is no guarantee of that but we will do our best and then refund you if successful.

iii) Less than 4 calendar days: We regret that we cannot offer refunds if given less than 4 calendar days’ notice.
