The 2023 Oxford and Cambridge Boat Races provided an exceptional day of racing and a new chapter in the event’s history. Cambridge University celebrated a clean sweep, winning all four contests against their Oxford rivals. The results were as follows: Cambridge won the Women’s Boat Race by 4.5 lengths in 20 minutes and 29 seconds, Blondie won the Women’s Reserve Boat Race by 3 lengths in 21 minutes and 20 seconds, Cambridge won the Men’s Boat Race by 1 1/3 lengths in 18 minutes and 18 seconds, and Goldie won the Men’s Reserve Boat Race by 1 length in 18 minutes and 23 seconds.

Despite two Oxford University Boat Club athletes receiving medical attention following the Men’s Race, they are doing well and have been discharged, with thanks to the RNLI, St John’s Ambulance, and the London Ambulance service. The students’ performances were impressive, and they should be proud of their achievements. Cambridge University achieved an unbeaten season, and their success will be rightly celebrated for years to come. Overall, it was a fantastic day of racing, with Cambridge taking home all four victories against their Oxford rivals.

Just as important was our lunch held in the Duke’s Head overlooking the starting line – it was a resounding success too, of course. Members and their guests were treated to a delicious three-course meal, featuring locally-sourced ingredients and expertly prepared dishes. The elegant setting of the Wolsey Room provided the perfect backdrop for the event, with its grandeur and sophistication impressing all in attendance. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff catering to our guests’ every need. The atmosphere was convivial and lively, with guests engaging in lively conversation and causal networking.  Overall, a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved and hopefully to be repeated next year.
