On Thursday 24th September, members of the Cambridge Society of London had great fun exploring hipster London, around Shoreditch and Spitalfields, in a socially distanced walking tour led by Blue Badge Tourist Guide Caroline Piper.  It was great to be out enjoying London in such a fascinating and fun neighbourhood!  We enjoyed learning about the YBAs / Young British Artists who started the “Shoreditch Revolution” and paved the way for the colourful street art seen around the neighbourhood today, visited the country’s first ever council estate and sauntered down Brick Lane, exploring how the waves of Huguenot, Jewish and Bengali immigration have shaped the area.  The East End is a fabulously fun historic neighbourhood and well worth a visit!
