The venue for our Oxbridge Singles Evening last Wednesday was the Drawing Room at the British Film Institute, which was chosen for a number of reasons. It certainly has appealing quaint décor with traditional furniture and a well-stocked bookcase, as well as comprehensive bar facilities and a warm overall atmosphere. However, perhaps most importantly, for those without the correct approach, it can be a challenge to find within the labyrinthine British Film Institute. This is something that would make our friend Charles (of Darwin College fame) proud. Only the best of the best genes might combine as a result of our singles party – we try to do our bit for the future of humanity.
This filter left us with nearly sixty keen singletons neatly divided between the genders, though with a suitable bias towards the right university. A few games stimulated the imaginations of the attendees and brought some of them closer together. By all accounts it looked like a few couples were forming by the end of the evening. Further details shall remain in the Drawing Room.
I shall spare our games prize winner further publicity, though congratulations to him for matching with three ladies!
