Notting Hill – famous for riots, carnival, the street market and the film – was the location for the Cambridge Society’s February’s walk.  Those joining the walk soon learned that there was more to Notting Hill than they might have suspected.  From the Kensington Hippodrome, to the largest private shared garden in the capital, we explored the area’s history, diversity, film locations (not just Notting Hill, but Paddington and The Italian Job too) and music credentials – record companies, recording studios and rock stars, including Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and The Rollin’ Stones.  For some it was a trip down memory lane, for others a voyage of discovery.

Just wanted to say how good this event was – very interesting and well done by the guide, who was both well informed and effective.  Much appreciated.Society Member
