Our Society Dinner in the Edward VII Room at the Oxford and Cambridge Club was a friendly and enjoyable evening with a fascinating and international cast of diners including a shipping magnate, a former diplomat, a television director, a finance expert, a Queen’s Counsel, senior army men and your rather more humble Secretary and Chairman, plus of course partners. Conversation and merriment were in good supply, as were the food and wine, all served by staff in our private room. For those who wished, our Chairman had led a stroll round the Club before the dinner and that possibly raised appetites even more. It was when we each had the opportunity to say a few words about ourselves that the really interesting talking began. By the end people were moving round to develop new friendships (not with other’s partners, we hope) and in the following days we had many thanks, good wishes, and the hope that we will organise similar dinners in future – which of course we will.
